HAZEL GRACE | BIRTH PHOTOGRAPHY

A lot of you are probably like whoa, what? Yep, that’s right. For the first time ever, I had the HONOR to photograph the birth of one of my closest friends giving birth to her FIFTH baby! What a woman warrior!!

When Bobbi asked me if I would do it, I was hesitant at first. I probably stared at the screen longer than I normally would without responding, knowing that it could be seen that I had, in fact, read the message. But, after a few minutes, I responded very certainly with an “I would absolutely do that for you.” I gave her a few dates I knew I couldn’t be there because of other commitments I had on the calendar, which she was very understanding and we both knew that babies had a mind of their own. Either way, I was determined to make this work!

As we got closer to the due date, it was decided that for the health & safety of Bobbi & Hazel that an induction be done a couple weeks before the due date - starting at 12 a.m. I was there, ready to go! And while I won’t go into the ENTIRE story in words, as I think the photographs will speak for themselves, Bobbi was absolutely incredible through the entire process. Other than some goods to get labor started, Bobbi had a completely natural birth. NO drugs. NO epidural. I was a total cheerleader for her inside because I knew deep down I was NOT that woman, and she was incredible. Her husband, Cam, was right by her side like a champ the entire time, especially once it was GO time!

Hazel Grace was born at 2:25pm on Monday, October 22. She was 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches long. She was absolutely perfect.

Will I ever photograph another birth? I’m not sure. I guess it would have to be for the right person. :)

Enjoy some of my favorites (with Bobbi’s blessing, of course!)

Also - you’ll notice when the pictures change to B&W that it’s about TIME! :)
